BOOK REVIEW – WRITERS OF THE WORLD

People tried to exchange their feelings and expressions from the time when letters were invented.  Thus literature was born and it grow to become an integral part of human history and culture.
Initially the medium of writing mainly included rock carvings, clay tablets, papyrus scrolls and palm leaves.  Gradually it changed to paper and printing on a mass scale.  Along with the medium, the content of writing also changed.  Writers began to experiment with various forms and literary styles.
World literature is vast as well as diverse.  Throughout the centuries great many writers have contributed to the development of literature and culture across the world.
Some of these great writers from the history of literature are being cherished by men of all time such as Aesop who is popular with children all over the world.  All of us must have heard and read many of Aesop’s fables like “The Fox and the Grapes”.  Another great writer to be remembered in this context is Sophocles whose most famous plays include Antigone, Oedipus, Rex etc…  His plays mainly deal with fate and they reminds us of the fact that, no matter how much they try, men cannot control their fate.
There are many English men who ranked as distinguished writers of the twentieth century.  Mark Twain, H.G. Wells, George Orwell, P. B. Shelley, Wordsworth are a few among them.  George Bernard Shaw was even considered so controversial for his antiwar articles her wrote after the outbreak of First World War.
The greatest and most notable ancient Indian writer belongs to this series is Kalidasa.  His famous works like “Abhinjana Shakunthalam”
“Vikramorvashiyam” etc… brought immense recognition to him as well as Indians.  “The Mahabharata” by Vyasan is one of the greatest marvels in the literature of the world.

One thing is for sure that this is not a complete list.  Many of them have been forgotten.  Some have stood the test of time and are still remembered in reverence.  They are the great writers who gave the world the store house of wisdom and compassion and lead the world from darkness into lights ages.

POEM – DREAMS

Dreams are like streams
Where I flow like snow
Thou give me the gay
Which I miss on my way.
Thou pay me the pleasure
To act that I want
Thou turn my sorrow
And make me hurrah!
With you I cheer
With you I bear
Thou are the wonder
That make me marvel
Dreams bring me the glory
And never let me down
And make me crave for life

And they keep me alive
